Creating a State of Joy

What is a state of Joy and how does it differ from happiness, if at all?  This is a very common question asked by millions of women around the globe.  Essentially, a state of joy must come from your soul.  It is your soul’s joy. Happiness is fleeting and comes and goes according to daily events and circumstances however, your soul’s joy will remain constant regardless of what is happening in your outside world.  When they say that happiness is an inside job, this is what they were referring to. My first experience with sate of joy came when I was single and raising my daughter virtually by myself.  I was a passenger in a car and a love song came on the radio.  It moved me so deeply and I felt butterflies like I have never felt before; what I realized however, was that those feelings of joy (and Love) were for me.  I was not even dating at the time.  It was a truly powerful experience and revelation for me that day.  My state of joy has grown remarkably since then.

I’d like to share with a daily exercise that can help you to create this state of joy within yourself. It does not take much time to do this and yet, it is so powerful and effective.

  • Before you get out of bed in the morning, stretch comfortably as much as you can and then relax in a lying position on your back.
  • Breathe deeply for a few seconds and focus on your breath as it goes in and then goes back out.
  • If your mind starts to awaken, simply put light around the thoughts to quiet them down.
  • Ask your soul to join you for the day.
  • Feel your soul connect to you at the heart chakra.
  • Once you feel or sense a click, then imagine your soul’s aura expanding about 10 feet beyond your body.
  • Take a few minutes to sense what that feels like.
  • When you are ready, ask your soul to sound its note of joy. Try not to figure out what this sound is like; it may take weeks or months for you to identify with your soul’s note of joy but you will feel the joy in your life creeping in at unexpected moments.  Eventually you will attune very deeply with your soul and become very familiar with its notes and colors and essences. For now, just allow the notes to go out.
  • Spend about three minutes with this and when you are ready, gently open your eyes and prepare for getting out of bed to start your day with soul by your side, every step of the way.

After doing this exercise for a few weeks, a few things will happen.  First of all, you will sense this deep inner joy. Secondly, your outer world will begin to reflect this new state of joy and you will be pleasantly surprised with all of the positive feedback and the new flow of your life.  Thirdly, doing the morning exercise will become second nature, and you will easily be able to just sound your soul’s note of joy by setting the intention to do so.
