New 10 of the Month – Oprah!
I just keep feeling in my heart that we’re entering a new time, and that this is going to be the New 10 Decade. I feel like we’re on the edge of really learning to appreciate ourselves for the amazing creatures we are, instead of worrying so much about what we’re not. In fact, I’ve even written a book on the subject called The NEW 10….Redefining Beauty. It’s going to be released on March 10, 2010, so I hope you’ll keep an eye out for it! As I wrote the book, I couldn’t help feeling that this this new way of looking at ourselves won’t just make us more powerful and more beautiful than ever before, but that it will actually change the way the world sees beauty and the whole idea of what it means to be a 10. Which brings me to Oprah. I don’t think this whole crusade – the book, the website, any of it — would have happened without Oprah. Watching her over the years, and listening to her, I feel like I saw her grow more and more beautiful, right before my eyes. Sure, her weight went up and down, she had good hair days and bad hair days, and all that typical stuff we worry about. But something in her soul just took over. It was like the more she did for others, the more she just…glowed. Her beauty and her power were almost like an aura around her. And the more power and beauty she gained, the more she could do for other people. She stopped being just another woman and became this…force. And the more of a force she becomes, the more beautiful she looks. It’s the way she connects with people when she looks at them. The way her smile lights up a room. Even the way she has taken ownership of her body as it is right now and still works it like a supermodel. I know a lot of people laugh at the whole “Oprah Phenomenon” – I’m sure she even laughs sometimes at all the stuff – the magazine and the book club and the media empire. It must amaze even Oprah that a girl like her could grow up to be regularly referred to as a phenomenon. But I think that’s really what it’s all about. We all have that power inside of us. Just like Oprah, we can share our gifts with the world. We can face people as who we really are, but make the constant effort to be our best selves. And as we touch the lives of those around us, we can change our own lives as well. We can all become a phenomenon. So I can think of no better way to launch this new decade – the New 10 Decade – than by honoring my inspiration and naming Oprah Winfrey as my first New 10 of the new decade. I know she will continue to inspire me – and all of you – to be our best selves and create the lives we really deserve. All decade long. Many Blessings, |
